Forty-six persons have been arrested for various offences by Edo State Police Command in Benin City.
The suspects, including a prison escapee, were arrested in various known criminal hideouts across the state.

The Edo State Police Command Public Relations Office, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, gave the breakdown of the arrested suspects to include fifteen alleged cultists, two suspected armed robbers, nine alleged kidnappers, six murder suspects and six suspects arrested for unlawful possession of firearms.
Other suspects in Police Net include three persons for rape and defilement offences, one correctional centre escapee and 4 Suspects for stealing and diverting petroleum products.
According to the Police Image maker, all the suspects have been profiled and will take their day in court soon.
In a separate story, an alleged member of a kidnapping gang terrorizing the Benin -Ehor road was arrested.
Over 15 Automated Machine cards (ATM) and international passports of kidnapped victims were recovered from the Suspects.
There was difficulty in interviewing the suspect as he could not express himself in English.
The police also announced the recovery of other items.
They include one pump action gun, five locally-made guns, one locally made Pistol and one dummy gun.
